I grew up in Victoria, Texas.

My uncles and grandmother were local artists. My grandparents owned a art store in a nearly town, where many of the other local artists would visit.

I remember spending time there, when I was young, painting and drawing and learning to create by using my imagination.

The other side of the family all sang and played music.
Growing up, my mother played piano and sang, and my uncles would sing and play guitar. My older sister and brother played various instruments, as well.

I grew to have a deep passion for music and art.

I started playing the piano at three, and picked up the guitar when I was 11. There's nothing like expressing yourself through music.

By my mid teens, I was playing in local rock bands, and independently produced and recorded a few songs.

In college I majored in music, studying classical guitar, at Abilene Christian University.

I moved back home, to Victoria, and studied art at the local Community College, and briefly worked for a commercial artist.

In 1989, while playing in a band, I was approached about being a model for a hair color class.

Little did I realize that I was about to change more than just my hair color.

That experience opened my eyes to the world of hair design. I imagined what it would be like to be able to meet people and create all day long. Instead of  a canvas or clay, my medium would be heads of hair.

Cutting, coloring, styling, and creating.

I  enrolled in beauty school, learning all I could. I styled hair for local theater groups, every chance I got.

After I graduated from beauty school, I began building my skills, and my clientele.

For a year or so, I taught at a hair academy, but soon discovered my purpose and passion wasn't behind a desk or in a classroom, but instead, behind the styling chair.

I returned to the salon, and worked as a stylist for Regis Hairstylists.

In 1992, at the age of 23, I married my beautiful wife Tess.

Three years later, we moved to the wonderful city of Austin, Texas.

Shortly thereafter, I opened up and managed Regis Hairstylists in Northwest Austin.

In 1998, three years to the day of moving to Austin, I opened and co-owned Signatures Salon.

Then, a few months later, we gave birth to our daughter, Alexis.

Needless-to-say, it was a busy and blessed year.

In 2002, after the birth of our son, Ethan, I realized the dynamics of my life had changed, and so had my ideals.

I no longer enjoyed the hustle and hassle of salon management and ownership. I decided to sell the salon, and do what I truly enjoyed... cutting, coloring and styling hair, visiting with interesting people, and spending the rest of my time enjoying life with my family, and friends.

Everyday, I have the privilege of working with friendly, talented stylists. And, cutting, coloring and styling the hair of many wonderful people. I've learned so much from all of them, and continue to.

I feel so blessed to have a "job" doing something I love, and am truly thankful.

I, also, enjoy writing, recording music in my home studio, dabbling in graphic design, listening to music, creating memories with my children, laughing with my wife, and hanging out and going camping with my friends.

Life is good! :)
